I finally got a new off-road capable truck and it opened up a whole new world of possibilities on what I could photograph domestically. It's been a few years since I've owned a 4×4 and I've had time to think about what I regret not doing last time. the absolute first thing I wanted to do was go back to Death Valley and risk it's famously difficult dirt roads filled with sharp rocks and steep drop offs to visit the iconic Racetrack Playa and see the Sailing Stones that famously “race” across the ancient dry lake bed.
In a super lucky chance, there happened to be a Space X launch to the south. What you see in the upper right hand corner is the Falcon 9 rocket blasting off to space. An incredibly lucky shot that turned out to be by far my favorite of the night.
