Diamond in the Rough

The sand dunes of southern Arabia are some of the vastest and tallest in the world. Waking up at 3 AM to hike barefoot up the Wahiba sand dunes of Oman to find just the perfect composition was quite the challenge! What looked like an endless sea of darkness under a glittery night sky was intimidating at first but inviting once I actually started the trek. About 45 minutes into my hike I found exacccctttly what I was looking for, perfect windswept textures facing the direction of the milky way. Oman is at an interesting latitude which allows for the best parts of both the northern and southern hemisphere sky and I was thrilled to get everything I wanted in one shot.

I call this color correction the “Aladdin palette” hence the name of the piece :)
